Annie Leibovitz

I’ve always admired the work of American photographer Annie Leibovitz. When I was 16 I got from my mom a photography book with 30 years of Rolling Stone  covers. Many of them where by Annie.  Recently I watched a documentary about her life: “Annie Leibovitz: Live Throught a Lens”. For anyone interested in photography this a very nice documentary. The movie, directed by Annie’s sister Barbara Leibovitz, has one major flaw: it’s very short. It left me wanting for more.

John & Yoko’s  famous portrait was taken only 5 hours before the assassination of Lennon.

After working many years a a regular photographer or Rolling Stone, Annie left and started working with various magazines. She’s become famous as a celebrity photographer and, especially, for her cover shots for Vanity Fair which gather many actors. On Vanity Fair’s website you can see a special feature on these famous covers with great actores & actresses, like the one featured here.

“Master Class”: Nicole Kidman, Catherine Deneuve, Meryl Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Vanessa Redgrave, Chloë Sevigny, Sophia Loren, and Penélope Cruz.

Ever since I’ve seen Danny Cavanagh perfome this song live I’ve become addicted to this song. It is so intense and beautiful. I really love Anathema, in all their phases.

First One

♫ She Wants Revenge – First, Love ♫

I’ve had several blogs but only one in English. I wrote there twice and gave up. I hope this time it will be different. I am now living outside of Brazil and am studying in English, so I should have plenty of readers prepared to read in English.

Today I was called Miss American Dream because I ask people to write in English on one community I own. I find this so ridiculous. First of all, English comes from England, as all well educated people know. Second of all, it is an international language whether we like it or not. And even if I would pick another language for an international company it would be Spanish or Chinese, not Portuguese.
